Online Fashion Entrepreneur, 34 years old, Pasig City
A doting mom and devoted wife, Milka has managed to remain her own person. In fact, after several successful years in banking, she quit the job and switched to something more creative — fashion. She got herself into Slim’s Fashion and Art School and has never stopped designing since. Eventually, she launched her own fashion online store that further boosted her confidence.
Milka claims she creates clothes not with models in mind, but women who go for outfits that are sexy but not vulgar, very wearable yet with a touch of class. Having a sharp-cut vision of her own design style, she knows the runway will put her versatility to the test.
What sets you apart from other designers? What makes you an interesting participant?
Good editing and individuality in my designs. I think it goes with my age and taste level.
Have you gone through formal fashion training before? If not, what is your fashion design background?
Yes. I studied at Slims Fashion School for a year and a half for Dress and Patternmaking, and I also took a short course at the La Salle International School for Fashion.
Have you joined other design competitions prior to Project Runway Philippines?
Give one word that best describes you as a designer.
As a designer, I’m a thinker. As for my design aesthetic, it’s effortless and feminine.
