Costume Designer, 21 years old, La Union
What’s a BS Applied Physics major doing in the sphere of fashion? It was towards his third year in UP Diliman that Lhenvil jumped off the cliff of his monochromatic science degree and landed in the Technicolor world of fashion.
Giving in to his true inclination with reckless abandon, Lhenvil gets a thrill out of creating costumes for theater and TV productions, sewing flamboyant garb from his wild imagination. One of the youngest in this season’s batch, his strategy is to bring into the competition his youthful vibe, fresh point of view, and fascination for fantasy. But can he measure up to the more experienced runway contenders?
What sets you apart from other designers? What makes you an interesting participant?
I am the youngest designer of the batch. They will definitely expect a lot of new things from me. But who knows? The fact that I do things they think I can’t do makes everything more interesting.
Have you gone through formal fashion training before? If not, what is your fashion design background?
I took a few fundamentals in fashion design and history subjects. I taught myself how to pattern and construct garments through books and tutorials on the Internet.
Have you joined other design competitions prior to Project Runway Philippines?
No. Project Runway Philippines is the first design competition I joined.
Give one word that best describes you as a designer.
