Fashion Design Instructor, 27 years old, Quezon City
An instructor of Patternmaking at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines, Karla is a designer of precise construction. Not everyone is gifted with this skill, and this will be Karla’s edge in the new season of Project Runway Philippines.
Karla regards herself a fashion warrior, a strong metaphor most evident in her baroque-inspired and tribal design style. A master of dress patterns with true grit, Karla is braced to fight tooth and nail in the name of fashion.
What sets you apart from other designers? What makes you an interesting participant?
I am a technician. I have taste, good attention to detail and amazing skills in garment construction. I’m a cool person, a designer with both talent and swagger. I could take on any challenge, run, and sew even in 5-inch heels.
Have you gone through formal fashion training before? If not, what is your fashion design background?
Yes. I took up fashion design classes and graduated from the Fashion Institute of the Philippines.
Have you joined other design competitions prior to Project Runway Philippines?
Give one word that best describes you as a designer.
